Darien Book Aid Plan

In existence since 1949, Darien Book Aid is a non-profit, all volunteer organization that builds a foundation of peace, understanding, and friendship through the free distribution of books. Book Aid sends books in response to specific requests from Peace Corps volunteers,  libraries and schools all over the world   Books are also donated to libraries, prisons, hospitals, and Native American and Appalachian groups in the United States.

Pam Miller, who runs the domestic program, works closely with Books 4 Everyone to provide books to schools and community organizations in Fairfield County.

DBA is located at 1926 Post Road in Darien Connecticut, and the front room is always open to accept book donations. The website details what books are appropriate.

Our volunteers love to handle all the incoming requests. Dawn and Dick Fiss tackle the front room on a weekly basis, culling through the incoming books to determine whether they can be used at DBA or if they should go to local libraries, schools or community organizations. Once inside, the books are organized like a library, then volunteers fulfill requests from Peace Corps volunteers, teachers and community organizations around the world.
